Carnival Corporation Destination Iceland, North and East

Cruise Iceland and Carnival Corporation cooperated in successful visits to two very important parts of Destination Iceland. Namely Seydisfjordur and Akureyri, representing North and East Iceland where we met with four MPs, five Mayors, members of the regions town councils, CEOs from tourism, museums, retail, port directors and other stakeholders, on board the AIDA Luna. The opportunity was used to inform and educate stakeholders about our industry, what has been done over the years to secure a sustainable environment for the cruise industry in Iceland. The tour is the latest in a number of annual ship visits in co-operation with various cruise lines where stakeholders are invited onboard to speak freely about their concerns, and with an open dialogue, they would hopefully leave us with a different perspective on all matters regarding cruise in Iceland as well as on a global scale.

Over the years many stakeholder meetings have been held in Reykjavik, which is good, but Destination Iceland is much more than the capital, where each part of the island is unique in its own way.
